Hello, my name is Yvette and I'm addicted to Netflix...
I just got done with watching Weeds and I loved the ending!!! I have to agree with my brother it was one of the best series endings that I've seen in a long time. I was a faithful watcher of Weeds for about 4 seasons and the my anger at Showtime and HBO forced me to cancel my premium cable package.
I confess I rather just watch series in a marathon rather than watch week after week. I can't even watch Madmen or Walking Dead live because of the commercials. I work in Marketing and I understand the value and need of a commercial but there is nothing like watching episode after episode on my iPad mini. I carry the IPad with me when I do laundry. It's my baby..
Today I finished watching the last season of Weeds. Nancy Botwin was a great character but I have to agree--It's Time. It's Time..was the title of the last two episodes. When I tried to give people an overview of the show I would say that it's about a Mom, Nancy that was became a widow very young. Since she really had no real marketable skills she went back to what she knew best--weed. Nancy was a "weed" entrepreneur and her choices lead her on a patch of hijinks with her brother-in-law and two sons in tow. I think some people just didn't watch the show because of the title but it was a well written show. Yes, there was weed, guns, drive-by shootings, torture, DEA, SEC, FBI, CIA but the violence had a purpose and meaning in the storyline.
Did Nancy always make the most sound decisons..no but I always gave her credit for trying. Could she have sold Avon or Pampered Chef? I guess but it would have been as entertaining.
I love how it ended with Nacy sitting on the stairs and slowly all her 'peeps' joined Nancy on the stairs. Shane on her right and Silas on left left and then Doug and Andy in the back row. What made them all come back to Nancy? Is it the fact that your Mom is your Mom no matter how crazy she can be over the years. Is it that deep down that she really tried to keep the family, including crazy Shane and Doug as a cohesive family unit or where they are drawn into to her sexulity?
Is my homework done for the week? No, but I could cross of Weeds on my Netflix watch list.
Another quick recommendation Somewhere Between. It's a great documentary about 4 teenage girls that were adopted from China. I could relate to the twinkie/banana references but that a topic of a whole new post..
